One of my favourite blogs is Neil Patel’s Quicksprout.com.
Neil is a truly smart marketer. If you need inspiration, you’ll surely find it in his blog. He is the co-founder of Crazy Egg and KISSmetrics (these are both outstanding services to help track and improve the conversion rate of your website).
Neil recently wrote a blog post entitled “How I built my first business through email marketing”. I found it particularly fascinating because I’ve used email marketing successfully in the past (nothing like Neil has, though) and this post has inspired me to focus more on it in future.
One of Neil’s top tips for marketing by email is to always personally target millionaires. He stresses, millionaires and only millionaires. When was working as on online marketing consultant, he would find the websites of millionaires and send them a report by email about what was wrong with their sites – and his recommendations for improving them.
He achieved a great strike rate. (The reason for targeting millionaires is that if you target small business owners with little or no money, they will take your free advice and use it themselves. But millionaires are too busy to do it themselves and are likely to hire a professional.
This is just a snippet of the great content you’ll find on Neil Patel’s blog. And even better, you should get on his email list. I drop whatever I am doing when he sends an email. Usually it’s something you can put into action and/or case studies of what worked for him. Let’s face it, we need all the inspiration we can get from great marketing minds like his.
